Finders Keepers Saturday Workshop Series is Back!

It can plague any home - and it probably followed you into 2011: stuff. Knick-knacks, clothing, clutter, papers, receipts. We stash away an old jumbled pile - out of sight, out of mind - only to have to face it again in the future. Stop making more work for yourself and G.O. this January, which is Get Organized month. Finders Keepers Saturday Workshops are back to help you jumpstart your goals, and we're bringing you four of Atlanta's savviest organizational professionals who will teach you how to make the process easier and more effective.

January 8th: Creative Order
Suellen Germani, certified Life Coach and Organizer, will help you clear the road to your goals by helping you identify and eliminate your "Life Clutter," which often claims the time, space, and energy that could instead be used to pursue your passions. Her workshop will outline four key elements to developing an organized lifestyle, which includes exploring the important emotional aspect surrounding our "stuff." Learn more on her website: http://www.creativeorder.com/

January 15th: Chaos to Comfort
Susan Fox is a true warrior of stuff and can help you declare battle on the piles of I'll-get-to-it-when-I-can-or-when-I-figure-out-where-to-stick-it clutter taking over your house. Learn how to reclaim every inch of your home and make the space you have work harder for you. Susan's service, Chaos 2 Comfort, has been written up in the Wall Street Journal for her organizational know-how. Learn more on her website: http://www.chaos2comfort.net/

January 22nd: Creating your own Sanctuary
Carey Lynn Quinn practices what she preaches: our mental states mirror our external environments. Maintaining tranquility and order within is easier when your surroundings work towards that sanctuary instead of creating more stress. With a desire to share the secrets of serenity, she began OrganizeAtlanta in 2005. Carey Lynn will (neatly) spill the beans on a few critical steps to turn your own home into a place to truly recharge, regroup, and relax.

January 29th: The Magic Suitcase
Professional organizer and author Jonda Beattie knows that there's nothing small about downsizing. Whether you're facing this major life decision now or considering it for the future, this workshop will help outline how to make this transition a successful time in your life by exploring how to get started, pitfalls to avoid, and rewards that can be achieved at the end of that long - and often intimidating - road. Learn more on her website: http://www.timespaceorg.com/

Workshops will begin at 9:30am each Saturday in January and are hosted at our Furnishings location: 2753 E. College Ave., Decatur, GA 30030. Call for details: 404-377-1944. We hope to see you there!

Storewide Sale and Canned-Goods Drive This Weekend!

So here's the meat and potatoes of the situation: This Friday and Saturday we're taking 20% OFF storewide at Finders Keepers Boutique... Sounds good, right? Well what if you wanted to enjoy 30% OFF storewide instead? The power is in your hands, well, your pantry. Just bring in 2+ canned goods for our food drive and we'll take 30% off of everything you wanna buy. Let's see what happens when we all give a little...
So come shop with Boutique this weekend and save either 20% or 30% STOREWIDE! The choice is yours! All goods collected will be given to D.E.A.M. (Decatur-area Emergency Assistance Ministry Inc.) for distribution.

P.S.
Friday we will stay open 'til 8pm for your shopping convenience.

Consignment Bus Tour This Saturday!

So I went shopping at Home Depot yesterday and couldn't believe my eyes: Home Depot already has her party dress on! Christmas trees, lights, ribbons, ornaments, wreaths, snowmen, and reindeer were everywhere. And then I realized with a start: "I haven't gotten anybody anything yet."

Why am I telling you this? Because this Saturday, from 10am - 5pm, Back By Popular Demand is hosting its own Consignment Store Bus Tour - which means you can be chauffeured around Atlanta on a chartered bus, enjoy a catered buffet lunch, go home with a goody bag, and find gifts for loved ones (and yourself!) from FIVE of Atlanta's fantastic consignment stores. AND bus tour participants will enjoy 20% off their purchases all day long.

All of the sudden this whole holiday shopping madness seems a lot less like work and a lot more like spending a great day with people who love resale shopping just as much as I do...

Tickets are $35 a piece, or $70 a pair and are available for purchase online at http://www.bbpdconsignment.com/

Bag Sale - September 2010

We spend a couple of hours setting up bag sale: roping off the parking lot at our Fashions location, blocking off the driveway to thru-traffic, rolling out racks (and racks) of clothing, lining up shoes, hauling out armfuls of handbags, and mentally preparing ourselves for the best kind of madness and mahem there is: the first five minutes of Bag Sale. And last Saturday was no exception. The line started before dawn, and by the time 9am arrived over one hundred people stretched across the store front and down Lake Street.

And then Bonnie, owner of Finders Keepers and our Fearless Leader, introduced Haji, a refugee from Sierra Leone, who works at our Furnishings location. Haji and other refugees are the reason - the real reason - that we hold this semi-annual event. Shoppers can stuff bags full of clearance merchandise for only $10 a bag and 100% of the proceeds from our Bag Sales go directly to Refugee Resettlement and Immigration Services of Atlanta (RRISA.) Last Saturday's Bag Sale raised $1638 for this very worthy, very necessary cause. I couldn't help but wonder what he thought about the event. But just the idea of it made me burst into big, pregnant-lady tears and I didn't want to be a blubbery, teary mess when I asked him because I have never seen him cry. In fact he smiles. A lot.

I've posted pictures below. Be sure to check out our youtube page for video clips of interviews and the total madness of Bag Sale! And take a peek at our blog for Finders Keepers Furnishings to see pictures from RRISA's Artists Market.

Now that's my idea of a buffet!

Tessa and Leanne from RRISA helped set up the Bag Sale!

So many shoes!

Mother Nature generously donated a beautiful morning for the event.

The line kept going and going!

Jessi was ready to collect money!
She is having a wedding ceremony this Saturday - congrats Mr. & Mrs. Ross!

Bag Sale 90 seconds after opening!

Bag Sale at 3 minutes in...

Way to get in a morning work out!

Jackie was a formidable and fashionable line guard :)

Time elapsed: 5 minutes...

Hi Haji! I wonder what you think about all this...
