The Subtle Statement

Colors are an instinctive outlet for self expression. Moods, goals, and tones can all be articulated with that perfect shade or hue. Bold colors aren't the only way to make a statement. A neutral, monochromatic look says just as much as the all-powerful, oft-instructed Red. Sometimes blending in is the best way to stand out.

All work and no play is not how we do

When I caught wind that Heather had never hunted plastic easter eggs chocked full of chocolatey goodness I felt an overpowering need to rectify the situation at once. The solution? I called Ivana and Heather in early for a "blog shoot"... what happened next likened butterflies on a field of new, fragrant flowers. 75 eggs were sought, captured, and claimed in about three minutes flat. And I think it's safe to say that Heather is in the Easter Egg Hunt Fan Club.

They're crucial and complimentary.... accessories are like the baby leaves or budding flowers on a statuesque, omniscient tree. They're the signs of life and growth. They're what make tough, hard, dreary branches take center stage in springtime's annual masterpiece. We wait on the bright, cheerful bursts of renewal with baited breath... longing to slough off winter's sleepy, woolly, hold on our inner flower children. Weather here in Georgia is pretty wacky, but hopefully - fingers crossed - spring has finally kicked winter to the ever-warmer curb.

2010 Spring Must-Haves

This year, spring trends take a journey back to basics. In a word – or three – strength, simplicity, and sexy sum up the melody of the season’s song. Ensembles are an easy blend of masculine structure and feminine frills. Monochromatic combinations and bold, daring prints strut down the same runway. Pretty and tough, ethereal meets the outback for a soft fierceness that could trek the Himalayas and then meet Helen of Troy for an afternoon cup of tea. This season is a union of Athena and Amelia Earhart, and pays tribute to every woman’s reality: we work just as hard as men do, and we do it in heels.

Shoes: Can sexy and sturdy coexist? This spring’s shoes are on a mission to prove that they can. Audacious heights get the support of a fuller heel. The surprise of the season: heeled clogs… who knew? One thing is for sure: thigh-high is so last season. While boots and cut-out booties are still on today’s radar, your very own gams are taking center stage away from the cover of winter’s above-the-knee boots. Platformed toes also add to the lengthening design. From out-of-this-world-wild to simple, nude sneakers, this season is all about fun with a touch of function for us hard-workin’ gals.
